Continued road and traffic impacts from Eastern Kings Wind Farm project
The second vessel containing wind turbine blades for the Eastern Kings Wind Farm Project is now fully offloaded in Georgetown. Beginning June 4, wind turbine blades will be transported to Eastern Kings which will take approximately one week to complete.
Transportation will take place each day after the morning school bus runs are complete. The first morning loads are expected to leave Georgetown at approximately 9am with safety escorts and will take a few hours to travel to site in Eastern Kings. Additional loads will be transported in the early afternoon before the afternoon school bus runs begin.
Disruptions lasting a few minutes can be expected at the Pooles Corner roundabout as loads turn onto Route 4. Drivers should expect delays. Signage, traffic control, and highway escorts will be in place to help minimize disruptions and keep everyone safe. Roadside message boards will be positioned along the route letting motorists and the public know when they may encounter the oversized loads.
Following this phase, wind turbine components being trucked up to Eastern Kings are much smaller and less disruptive to the flow of traffic. More information available at Eastern Kings Phase II Wind Farm Project. Information on traffic impacts is available at 511.gov.pe.ca
The PEI Energy Corporation thanks the public for their patience during this time.
