Motorists reminded to be prepared for spring weight restrictions coming soon

Milder weather is expected over the coming days and weeks and that means Islanders who transport goods should be prepared for spring weight restrictions.

The public will be advised a few days in advance of the restrictions, but the need can come very quickly depending on the weather. Overweight permits will not be issued during spring weight restrictions.  In 2020 the restrictions came into effect on March 14 and remained in place until early May. 

Seasonal weight restrictions limit the maximum weight of vehicles allowed to travel on certain roads as a way to help prevent damage and protect roadways in the province.
