Partners in Care reduced, new admissions stopped on Unit 2 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital
A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared on Unit 2 (Medical/Surgical Unit) of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. As a result, no visitors will be permitted on the unit until the outbreak is declared over. During this time, each patient may have one designated Partner in Care, reduced from three.
The unit will be closed to new admissions, except in rare cases where an admission is required and it is safe to do so, such as COVID positive patients or recently recovered COVID patients.
Patients who would normally be admitted to the unit will be cared for in available beds elsewhere within Health PEI.
The public is reminded that Health PEI continues to require people to wear a mask at all its hospitals, health centres, service areas and offices for the safety of patients and staff.
