Road construction taking place at Reads Corner

Construction will take place at the intersection of Route 1A and Water Street (Reads Corner) in Summerside to add a new road for a housing development.

The project includes building about 50 metres of new road, resurfacing around 500 metres of Route 1A and Water Street and adding a right-turn lane onto MacQuarrie Drive.

Dates: 

Monday, October 20, with work expected to last approximately two to three weeks.

Traffic: 

During construction, traffic lights may be turned off at times. Workers will be on site to direct traffic. All-way, stop-and-go traffic will be in effect. 

Safety: 

  • Traffic should reduce speed and be prepared to stop.
  • Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
  • Reduce speed in the area.
  • Obey flaggers and signs.
  • Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.
