Road work starts Monday in central PEI

Road work is scheduled to begin on three different highways in Cavendish and New Glasgow area on Monday (June 17).


  • A section of Route 13 in Cavendish will be widened and repaved. Work starts about 1 km south of the intersection of Route 13 and Route 6 and proceeds south for about 1 kilometre.
  • Work will also begin on Route 6 at the intersection of Route 6 and Cape Road, proceeding northerly for 1 km. Paving in Cavendish is expected to be completed by Friday, June 21.

Route 239 and Old New Orleans Road:

  • Upgrades to the intersection of Route 239 and Old New Orleans Road in St. Patrick's near New Glasgow will also start Monday (June 17). Construction will last about three weeks.

Advice to motorists:

Drivers are asked to slow down, use caution and obey signs and traffic control personnel. 

Be prepared to stop. Delays can be expected as two-way stop and go traffic will be in effect during construction hours.
