Henderson, Hon. Robert L.
Robert Henderson was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in the provincial general election of 2007 in District 25, O’Leary-Inverness. He was re-elected in 2011 and, most recently, on May 4, 2015.
Mr. Henderson served as Chair of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries in 2007, was Minister of Tourism and Culture from 2011 to 2015 and Minister of Health and Wellness until January 10, 2018. He is currently Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. He sits on the Legislative Standing Committee on Rules, Regulations, Private Bills and Privileges and on the committee for economic Development and Education.
He is a former economic development officer, draftsperson for the Atlantic region with Shellfish Leasing, worked 13 years as an employment counsellor and lifetime as a potato, beef and blueberry farmer. He has been an active community volunteer and chairing numerous organizations including Ellerslie- Tyne Valley Community School, Tyne Valley rink, PEI Oyster Festival and West Prince Soil and Crop. Mr. Henderson enjoys hockey, golf, music and spending time on his farm property.
Mr. Henderson and his wife Sandra live in Freeland. Their family includes daughter Chantel, a Registered Nurse, son-in-law Paul Noye, granddaughter Olivia and daughter, Sara, PhD in Biochemistry who works in Germany.
