Bloyce Thompson was first elected as the MLA for District 8, Stanhope-Marshfield, in the 2019 general election and subsequently named the Minister of Justice and Public Safety as well as Minister of Agriculture of PEI. Bloyce was re-elected as the MLA for District 8, Stanhope- Marshfield, on April 3rd, 2023, and named the Deputy Premier, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Minister of Agriculture of PEI.

As Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Attorney General of PEI, Bloyce has focused on increasing public safety resources for local communities and strengthening the justice system. Improving access to justice has been a priority for Bloyce as the Minister responsible for Justice, and some major accomplishments in that field include:

  • Opening PEI’s first ever Women’s Correctional Unit at the Provincial Correctional Centre;
  • Introducing the Province’s first Restorative Justice Program, which primarily provides alternative options for victims and offenders to help with healing and closure; and
  • Establishing PEI’s first Therapeutic Court through the implementation of a Domestic Violence Court in partnership with the Provincial Court.

Bloyce and his wife Terri are the proud parents of three children, living in beautiful Frenchfort, PEI.
