Mission Statement
Innovation PEI is focused on accelerating economic development in Prince Edward Island by investing in people, innovation, and infrastructure. We are targeting key sectors that have displayed a high potential for economic growth within the province.
These sectors include:
- advanced manufacturing and processing (including value-added food development and production)
- aerospace and defence
- bioscience (including agriculture and fisheries)
- information and communications technology
- financial services and renewable energy
We strive to assist the rapid development of these sectors and others to drive our Island economy through innovative new products and services.

Vision
Innovation PEI is committed to fostering strategic partnerships with industry, academia and other government agencies to develop a more prosperous and vibrant economy that is able to adapt to a changing world. Our agency is made up of three divisions:
Business Development and Integration: This division is responsible for the coordination and delivery of information and assistance to new and existing local businesses in Prince Edward Island. The group provides counseling, financial assistance, business guidance; entrepreneur education and professional development to assist businesses with start up, expansion and diversification.
Global Trade Services:This division is mandated to increase revenues generated from export sales and to assist Prince Edward Island companies in becoming export ready. The division provides training and support for market entry activities and market-specific information.
Business Attraction and Emerging Sectors: This division is responsible for growing the strategic sectors of advanced manufacturing and processing, aerospace and defence, bioscience, information and communications technology, financial services and renewable energy as well as attracting out of province business investment to Prince Edward Island. The division also manages innovation financial supports and services focused on encouraging innovation and new product development.

We are constantly in collaboration with other funding agencies across the Province such as Finance PEI, SkillsPEI, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and the National Reseach Council to ensure our clients receive high quality assistance and co-operation from our government.
Board of Directors
Innovation PEI has a board of directors comprised of entrepreneurs and executives from a broad range of industries across Prince Edward Island, as well as the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning, the President of the University of Prince Edward Island, and the President of Holland College.
Representatives support the agency and the Department of Innovation and Advanced Learning by providing independent advice - leading to more informed decisions on a broad range of activities.
