PEI Analytical Laboratories (PEIAL)

Drinking water and dairy testing are considered essential services at PEI Analytical Laboratories.  The laboratory continues to accept and process drinking water samples for bacteria and all dairy sample types for bacteria and components.  The dairy sample types include, bulk tank, individual cow, and finished product samples.  It is not anticipated at this time, that turnaround times will be impacted.  

In an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19, PEI Analytical Laboratories has reduced the number of staff occupying the facility and the hours in which the public can access the building.  Public access has been limited to 10:00 am to 3:00 pm daily.    

Anyone with Drinking Water inquiries or planning for the submission of drinking water samples are asked to contact PEIAL reception at:  902-620-3300, or the Lab Manager at:  902-368-5671.  

Anyone with Dairy inquiries, or planning for the submission of Dairy samples are asked to contact the Dairy Lab directly at:  902-368-4482, or the Lab Manager at 902-368-5671.  

To ensure all inquiries are addressed in a timely fashion, please contact the laboratory between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

PEI Analytical Laboratories (PEIAL) provides chemical and microbiological analysis for water, soil, dairy, animal feed, seed, plant tissue, manure, and compost samples, and disease identification service for crops.

The lab is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to the international standard for the general requirements for competence of testing and calibration laboratories, ISO/IEC 17025:2005.  A copy of PEIAL’s Scope of Accreditation may found on the Standards Council of Canada website at: http://palcan.scc.ca

Where can samples be submitted?

Samples may be submitted at the lab or via any of the AccessPEI locations outside of the Charlottetown area. Please check with the AccessPEI site in your area for courier pickup days and times.
