Department of Agriculture is preparing for next agriculture policy framework
The PEI Department of Agriculture is preparing for the next cost-shared agreement between Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the provincial/territorial departments of agriculture. This agreement is referred to, for now, as the next policy framework.
The current cost-shared framework, called the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, will end on March 31, 2028. It is anticipated that the new agreement will launch on April 1, 2028.
How is feedback on priorities for the next policy framework being gathered?
The Department of Agriculture had a survey to gather feedback on agricultural priorities for PEI. This was an opportunity for farmers, producers, agricultural commodity groups, Indigenous organizations, other groups associated with the agriculture sector, and members of the public to provide feedback.
Will the survey results be shared?
Yes, a report outlining what we heard in the survey will be published here in the summer of 2026.
Who may I contact if I have questions about the next policy framework?
