Well Contractor’s and Well Driller's Licenses

When do I need a Well Contractor’s or a Well Driller's License?

Any person who operates as a well driller, or constructs a well, needs a Well Driller's License.  Holders of a Well Drillers License must be employed by a company that has a Well Contractor’s License.  An owner/operator well driller must have both licenses.

How do I get a license?

To obtain a Well Driller’s License, you must submit a Well Driller's Application Form and fee. You must also complete an exam and field test to prove your knowledge of well construction requirements and techniques.

What is the fee?

The fee for a Well Driller’s License is $20.  The fee for a Well Contractor’s License is $200.  Please note HST is not required. Make cheques payable to the Minister of Finance.
