The Province Invites Your Feedback on the Proposed PEI Policing Standards

The Province is inviting Islanders to share their opinion on the proposed PEI Policing Standards. Your feedback is essential to ensure that the final standards reflect the diverse needs of our communities. All comments submitted to the Department of Justice and Public Safety will be carefully reviewed and considered in the finalization and implementation of these standards.

What are Policing Standards?

Policing standards are a set of clear, enforceable guidelines that define requirements for police services in areas such as organizational management procedures, training, service delivery and accountability. These standards establish minimum requirements that all police services must meet, ensuring consistent and equitable policing across the province.

These standards were developed through a collaborative process involving key stakeholders, including public safety partners, community organizations and police services from across the province.

What’s Being Shared?

Due to the comprehensive nature of the PEI Policing Standards, the document shared publicly is an overview summarizing the key areas covered in the full standards. This overview is designed to make the standards easier to understand, ensuring that residents can engage meaningfully and provide informed feedback. While the overview highlights the core components of the standards, it provides enough detail to ensure that Islanders can contribute thoughtfully to the consultation process.
