Support Your Library
There are many ways to support your library – both with your time and through donations.
Charlottetown Library Learning Centre Foundation
The Charlottetown Library Learning Centre Foundation is a registered charity that helps enhance library resources and programming not covered by core municipal or provincial funding. While the Foundation is centred upon the Charlottetown Library location, it also is committed to supporting the entire public library system in PEI.
Through the Foundation, the public can donate to a specific funding stream - such as purchasing printed materials and digital resources, to particular programs - such as the library's Wifi Hotspot Lending Program. All donations will receive a tax receipt.
The Foundation also has an online store where members of the public can purchase library and book-themed merchandise. Purchases can be sent to any of the Public Library Service's 25 locations for pick-up. All proceeds from the Foundation's online store go directly towards library resources and programming.
Friends of the Library
Friends of the Library groups are smaller volunteer groups made up of library supporters who help raise extra funds and deliver localized programming for their specific library branch. Many of the library branches within the PEI Public Library Service have a local Friends of the Library group. If you are interested in seeing if your local library has a Friends of the Library group, please contact your specific branch.
Volunteering
The public can also support the PEI Public Library Service with the gift of time by volunteering. Volunteers are mainly needed and used in the delivery of library programming. Volunteers are organized locally, so please reach out to the specific library branch where you are interested in volunteering your time. Also note that not all locations require volunteers, so acceptance is based on each location's current need. Please review the PEI Public Library Service's Volunteers Policy before contacting any library.
Book Sales
The majority of library branches within the PEI Public Library Service have small, ongoing book sales consisting of gently used donated items and materials withdrawn from the Library's collection. Money raised from these book sales is used to support local library programs and services.
