Special Needs Grant for Licensed Early Learning and Child Care Centres
The Special Needs Grant supports the inclusion of children with special needs in a licensed early learning and child care setting by providing funding for additional staff.
For the purposes of this grant, a child with special needs is defined as a person who is under the age of 12 years, has a diagnosed disability, and requires additional or specific types of care to meet the usual developmental goals.
What do I need to apply for a special needs grant?
Licensed early learning and child care centres must include the following with their completed application:
- Funding proposal form (see the application form for a template)
- Information on children needing support (see the application form for a template)
- Information on staffing schedules (see the application form for a template)
- Copies of your centre’s personnel policies, including average salaries for your staff

Submit your application and documents to the Manager of Early Childhood Development (contact information below) for review.
