School Nutrition Policies

School nutrition policies play an important role in creating healthy school environments and in supporting healthy lifestyles of children and youth; both of which support student success and academic achievement.

School boards have school nutrition policies that help to ensure the nutrition quality of food sold or served to students within all public schools.

School nutrition policies apply to all food sold in cafeterias, canteens and vending machines, as well as food offered through breakfast, lunch, and snack programs. They do not apply to food students bring from home.
