Housing Market: Our view changes everything
On PEI there is no view like an island view.
Islanders are blessed to live in a country where the general standard of living ranks among the very best in the world. Prince Edward Island performs very well in many measures of well-being relative to other provinces. PEI ranks above average in areas such as early learning and childcare, home ownership, and work-life balance.
Home ownership in PEI combines affordability with a stable, solid investment. Compared to a year earlier, house prices in PEI were up 5 per cent in July 2016. That stood in contrast to sharp rises in several major cities and declines in most others.
"Charlottetown is right in the sweet spot as a place to live in the Atlantic provinces…Charlottetown and Prince Edward Island relative to the rest of Atlantic Canada - it is definitely our number one and number two story overall.”
- Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation spokesperson, July 2016.
High Quality Early Learning and Child Care
Prince Edward Island’s outstanding early childhood system plays an important role in providing work-life balance and reducing stress for Island families.
The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education’s most recent benchmarking report ranked PEI’s early learning and child care system in a first place tie with Quebec. In addition to quality, PEI offers Canada’s highest level of access to regulated care and among the lowest average costs.
