The Councils will provide advice to the Premier and the Economic Hub group of Cabinet.

What is the function of the council?

Specifically, Regional Economic Advisory Councils will:

  • Identify platforms and clusters in each region (eg food, energy, technology, bio) and advise on growth and investment opportunities in these sectors;
  • Ensure labour development and youth entrepreneurship activity that is connected to growth potential in the region;
  • Enhance population growth in each region, and specifically help in targeted population attraction drawn by employment and economic opportunities; and
  • Advise on strategic infrastructure development that supports growth in the region.
