Help for Child Care Expenses

The Child Care Subsidy Program assists Islanders with the cost of child care and daycare services for children up to and including 12 year-olds.

Eligibility

Assistance is available for Islanders who are working, attending school or at home - depending on your situation and income level.  The program is flexible and offers a range of options for support.

How much will I pay for child care?

You could be approved for a full subsidy or a partial subsidy, depending on the outcome of the needs assessment.

If approved for subsidy, government will pay the rate established by your child care centre up to the maximum for your child’s age group and type of care, less any costs paid by a parent or another organization on your behalf. Your child care provider will be paid directly.

You will be responsible for paying any difference between the actual cost of your child care and the subsidy amount approved.

How do I apply?

Contact the child care subsidy office at 1-877-569-0546 for more information or to set up an appointment.
