Why do we need the Provincial Health Plan?

The Provincial Health Plan (PHP) highlights the priorities for healthcare on PEI, and establishes a long-term vision and guidance framework for PEI’s healthcare system and stakeholders by creating a blueprint for public policy and service delivery. The specific actions resulting from the priorities can be found in the strategic plan and operational plan, which will be developed along with the PHP.

When will the Provincial Health Plan be released?

The Provincial Health Plan is expected to be released by Fall 2022.

Why should I participate?

It takes an all-government and all-community approach to form the vision and framework for the healthcare system, to ensure that our system can serve our diverse population in a timely and equitable manner. The draft of the Provincial Health Plan (PHP) was developed using foundational documents such as existing plans and frameworks, along with initial engagement with Provincial Health Plan working group, Department of Health and Wellness (DHW) leadership and representatives from Health PEI and social policy staff in Government. From this we have a draft PHP and are seeking stakeholder and public input.

At this time, we are seeking feedback on the priorities and actions identified. The feedback gathered through this process will also inform the development of the Department of Health and Wellness’s Strategic Plan.

What opportunities are available for input?
