Sherwood Home

About Sherwood Home

Sherwood Home provides enhanced care for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities who need either residential or respite care.

What is the admission process?

You or your loved one’s individual care needs will be evaluated through a standard health assessment. Sherwood Home also works closely with advocates, disability support and social workers in doing so.

Generally, there are three types of service:

  1. Short-term – for respite, to provide short-term relief to caregivers.
  2. Long-term – for permanent care.
  3. Day residents – for individuals who come to the home for services, as needed. For example: a day program is available from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with lunch provided

What services are offered?

Services provided at Sherwood Home include:

  • Nursing Services;
  • Medical Services;
  • Dental Care;

  • Nutritional Services.

What activities are offered?

Your loved one will participate in programs that promote and maintain independence, social integration and enhance their well-being. Some of these programs include communication, reading, community outings, exercise, entertainment and sensory motor activities.

Are there visiting hours?

To support a home-like environment, family and friends are welcome and encouraged to visit at anytime, and as often as possible.

Can I volunteer?

Volunteers add a very special element to our care, and are an integral part of the team. There are limitless ways in which residents can benefit. These opportunities can enrich both their lives and those graciously contributing. To inquire or for more information, contact the Recreation Department at (902) 368-4141.

Can I make a donation?

The Sherwood Home gratefully accepts donations. These contributions are used to purchase materials and equipment that will enhance the residents’ quality of life that are not available through other sources of funding.
