Walk-in Clinics

Dr. Mitchell Stewart
Walk-in Clinics are not able to test for COVID-19. Use the self-assessment tool to help determine whether you should be tested.

If you are experiencing symptoms, including new onset fever or worsening cough, sore throat, rhinitis (runny nose, sneezing or congestion) marked fatigue, shortness of breath, chills, headache, myalgia (muscle pain) or acute loss of sense of smell or taste, call 8-1-1.

If you have general health questions regarding COVID-19, call 1-833-533-9333. For more information, visit www.princeedwardisland.ca/covid19

Walk-in clinics provide non-urgent care and are available to the public at various locations across the province.

Mental Health Walk-in Clinics offer immediate mental health support to help with anxiety, as well as life events causing stress and other mental health issues. For emergency care call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department.

When should I visit a walk-in clinic?

If you’re sick, call your primary care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner) first

If you do not have a primary care provider, or if you feel your medical needs require immediate attention, visit a walk-in clinic nearest you. If you do not have a primary care provider, call 1-855-563-2101 (toll-free), or complete the Patient Registry Application Form online to register yourself or a family member.

If there is no walk-in clinic in your community or if you need more urgent care, go to the nearest Emergency Department. For wait times, visit Emergency Department Wait Times

If you are unsure about what to do, call 8-1-1 for health care advice. A registered nurse can help you determine if your health issue requires emergency or non-urgent medical care. They can also provide you with reliable information related to your health issue or offer guidance about health services available in the province.

What should I bring with me to a walk-in clinic?

Before you go to a walk-in clinic, you should remember to bring:

  • Your PEI Health Card or Provincial Health Card (if visiting from another province).
  • An up-to-date list of your medications [PDF | 609 KB] including how much, how often and why you are taking each one and if you have any medication allergies.
    • Take all medications with you (in their original container) - pills, inhalers, eye drops, patches, injections, and creams.
    • Include any over-the-counter products you use, such as vitamins and herbal products.

Where can I find a walk-in clinic?

Walk-in clinics may be offered by Health PEI or a private operator and serve patients on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Call ahead before visiting a walk-in clinic as hours (listed below) may change without notice. Clinics may also close early when the maximum patient capacity has been reached, or if there are no patients waiting to be seen.
