About the role of Police Commissioner

The Police Commissioner of Prince Edward Island is an independent statutory office with a mission to investigate and resolve public complaints of unprofessional conduct against police, other than RCMP, in a timely, fair, reasonable, and impartial manner as outlined in the Police Act.

The Government of Prince Edward Island is now accepting applications for the role of Police Commissioner.

What are the requirements of the commissioner?

Work and Experience Requirements

Qualified lawyers with at least 10 years experience who have knowledge of law enforcement issues and experience participating in hearings or experience as a former judge of the Provincial Court, Supreme Court or Court of Appeal.

What is the deadline to express interest?

Anyone who wishes to be considered for appointment as police commissioner is encouraged to express interest by March 30, 2018.
