Positive Parenting from Two Homes for Kids Program

Positive Parenting from Two Homes for Kids is a school-based program for children who are experiencing changes in their lives as a result of parental separation, divorce or parenting from two homes.

What do children learn in the program?

Children learn how to deal with changes from separation, divorce, or parenting from two homes and they are given the opportunity to talk with other children who are going through similar situations.

How are the sessions organized?

Trained facilitators work with school guidance counselors to provide information to children through age-related activities and discussions. The program is delivered in 5 one-hour sessions. The number of sessions per week depends on which schools the program is delivered in and the frequency depends upon demand for the service.

What topics are discussed?

  • Definition of family
  • Changes that separation and divorce bring to a family
  • How separation, divorce, and parenting from two homes affects children

Where is the program offered?

The program is offered at various primary and secondary schools across the province, depending upon demand.
