March 24, 2020 - Premier King speaks with Holland College
Premier King spoke with Sandy MacDonald, President of Holland College, to better understand the effects of COVID-19 on the Island’s college community.
Premier King thanked students for their patience during these difficult times.
Mr. MacDonald provided an update on the work to move programs to online studies. Both agreed to work together to support the college’s online efforts as quickly as possible.
Mr. MacDonald said supports are in place for international students to ensure they remain healthy and safe and able to comply with the Chief Public Health Office’s requirements
Both agreed to keep open lines of communications and to work together to help keep Islanders safe and healthy.
The health and safety of Islanders is the greatest priority. The Province of Prince Edward Island is working closely with local, provincial, territorial and federal partners to minimize its health, economic and social impacts in Prince Edward Island and across the country.
Islanders with questions about COVID-19 should call PEI’s toll-free information line at 1-800-958-6400. The information line is taking messages 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and Islanders who leave messages will receive a call back within 24 hours from the Chief Public Health Office.
Islanders returning from domestic or international travel should immediately self-isolate for 14 days. Individuals experiencing symptoms (cough, fever, or shortness of breath) within 14 days of travel should call 8-1-1 to be screened and, if necessary, directed for testing.
Those requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1.
