Free workshops providing important financial information for seniors are once again being held across the Island this fall.
These workshops will focus on explaining the provincial and federal benefits Island seniors may be eligible for, as well as providing information on additional support options available to seniors. Workshops are designed for those aged 55 and over, along with family members and/or caregivers of older adults.
Where are the workshops being held?
Workshops are being held at the following locations:
- Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, 97 Queen St, Thursday September 25th 10:00am-3:30pm (full day event)
- O’Leary Community Complex (Boardroom),18 Community Street, Monday September 29th 9:30am-12:30pm
- Montague, Cavendish Wellness Centre (Hambly Room), 21 Sullivan Lane, Friday October 3rd 1:00pm-4:00pm
- Alberton Town Hall (Boardroom), 3 Emma Drive, Tuesday October 7th 1:00pm-3:30 pm
- Hunter River Community Centre, 19816 Route 2, Friday October 10th 9:30am-12:30pm
- Souris Show Hall, 5 Church Ave, Friday October 17th 9:30am-12:30 pm
- Summerside, St Eleanor’s Lions Club, 121 East Drive, Tuesday October 28th 10:00am-3:30pm (full day event)
- Cornwall Library Lobby, 15 Mercedes Drive, Thursday October 30th 9:30am-12:30pm
- Stratford, Mayflower Seniors Club - Cotton Park, 57 Bunbury Road, Thursday November 6th 9:30am-12:30pm
Do I need to register in order to attend?
No, there is no need to register in order to attend one of the workshops.
Is there a schedule for the workshops?
Yes, full-day workshops (September 25th in Charlottetown and October 28th in Summerside) will consist of:
- 10:00am – 10:45am: Session with a Seniors Navigator
- 10:45am – 11:30am: Session with Service Canada
- 11:30am – 12:15pm: Session with the Canada Revenue Agency
- 12:15pm – 1:00pm: Lunch Break
- 1:00pm – 2:45pm: Session with Community Legal Information
- 2:45pm – 3:30pm: Session with HospicePEI
Half-day workshops will have the following schedule regardless of when the session begins:
- 1st hour: Session with a Seniors Navigator
- 2nd hour: Session with Service Canada
- 3rd hour: Session with the Canada Revenue Agency
Can I attend part of the workshop?
Yes, participants may attend any session at any workshop date. Participants do not need to stay for the entire workshop, only the session(s) they are interested in attending.
What is the difference between the full and half day workshops?
All sessions will include presentations from one of the Seniors Navigators, Service Canada, and the Canada Revenue Agency.
Full day sessions will also include presentations from Community Legal Information on wills and power of attorney, and Hospice PEI on advanced care planning.
