TechNTalk
What is “TechNTalk”?
“TechNTalk” refers to the series of digital literacy events for those 55 years and older across Prince Edward Island. These events aim to empower near seniors and seniors with the fundamental skills needed to communicate effectively in today’s digital world, while helping to reduce feelings of social isolation. It also provides youth with the opportunity to learn from and engage with near seniors, and seniors.
Who hosts these events?
The Office of Seniors (Department of Social Development and Seniors) and Big Brothers Big Sisters PEI have partnered together to host these events in several communities across the province on an ongoing basis. These events are supported by and hosted at PEI public libraries.
What happens at these events?
As a participant (55 years and over), you will be paired with a knowledgeable youth volunteer on a one-to-one level. You will have up to 45 minutes of support with the volunteer.
This volunteer will answer the questions you have about:
- Setting up and/or operating your specific device(s)
- Communication options (e.g. email, text, Facetime) and social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram)
- Broadening your knowledge of the internet (e.g. how to use search functions, navigating your internet browser).
Please note that these events are not meant to address areas of questions pertaining to sensitive information (such as banking, Maple, etc.).
Prior to leaving, you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire about your experience.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
We ask that you bring the device(s) that you need support with, as well as their charger(s).
Will it cost be anything to attend a TechNTalk event?
All TechNTalk events are free to attend.
Do I need to register in advance?
This support is offered on a first come, first serve basis. You do not need to register in advance.

Saturday, April 22, 2023: Charlottetown Library Learning Centre (Rotary Auditorium), 10:00am to 12:00pm
Saturday, April 29, 2023: Summerside Rotary Library (ADL Room), 10:30am to 12:30pm
Saturday, May 6, 2023: Montague Rotary Library, 10:30am to 12:30pm
Saturday, May 13, 2023: Charlottetown Library Learning Centre (Rotary Auditorium), 10:00am to 12:30pm
Saturday, May 27, 2023: Montague Rotary Library, 10:30am to 12:30pm
Saturday, June 3, 2023: Summerside Rotary Library (ADL Room), 10:30am to 12:30pm
*Please note that TechNTalk events will not be scheduled in July and August 2023. More TechNTalk sessions will be offered in Fall 2023.
