Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP)
On August 16, 2018, Canada and the Province entered into a new ten-year funding agreement herein referred to as the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). Funding will be made available under the following four funding streams as well as three subcategories:
- Public Transit
- Community, Culture and Recreation
- Rural and Northern Communities
- Green Infrastructure, consisting of the following three sub-streams
- Climate Change Mitigation
- Adaption, Resilience and Disaster Mitigation
- Environmental Quality (this includes water & wastewater projects)
ICIP Program Open for Applications
The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) will be open for application intake on select categories from February 19, 2021, until 4:00p.m on April 30, 2021, for projects that will begin in the 2022 or 2023 construction seasons.
As the Province strives towards the development of a more sustainable future to align with PEI’s Path Towards Net Zero (2040) plan, the Province will be placing a higher priority on applications for projects that help us achieve net zero GHG emissions. This criteria supports the Province’s vision of becoming Canada’s first net zero province.
Applicants can apply for the following ICIP funding streams during this intake:
- Green
- Climate Change Mitigation (CCM)
- Adaptation, Resilience and Disaster Mitigation (ARDM)
- Environmental Quality (EQ)
- Community, Culture and Recreation (CCR)
A Climate Lens Assessment is required for both the Climate Change Mitigation (CCM - Green House Gas Mitigation Assessment) and Adaptation, Resilience, and Disaster Mitigation (ARDM - Climate Resilience Assessment). If the Total Eligible Cost of the project in any of the categories exceed $10M, both a GHG Mitigation Assessment and a Climate Resilience Assessment will be required. The Province will be accepting applications without the information provided by these assessments with the expectation that once the project receives Provincial support, the assessments will be completed as soon as possible.
