Licensed Driving Schools in PEI
The Highway Safety Division of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is responsible for the licensing and monitoring of commercial driving schools and instructors under the Highway Traffic Act Driving Schools Regulations. According to sections 3 and 7 of the Regulations, no person shall operate a driving training school on PEI without a permit and no person shall operate as a driving school instructor without a license.
The Director of Highway Safety may impose terms and conditions they consider appropriate with respect to a permit or license.
The driver education school instructors are responsible for testing Class 5 drivers’ licences. Truck-driver training schools are governed under the Highway Traffic Act, [718 Kb] and by a regulatory system under the Private Training Schools Act, administered by the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning.
