Can I take unpaid family leave?

An employee with six months of continuous service with the same employer, can take unpaid leaves of absence up to three days during a twelve-month period to meet immediate and extended family responsibilities.

Immediate family member:

  • spouse
  • child
  • parent
  • brother or sister

Extended family member:

  • grandparent
  • grandchild
  • aunt/uncle
  • brother-in-law/sister-in-law
  • mother-in-law/father-in-law
  • son-in-law/daughter-in-law
