Services and Equipment Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities

The Canada Student Loan Program offers a grant to eligible students with Permanent Disabilities of up to $8,000 per loan year to cover eligible services and equipment.

Who is eligible?

  • Have applied and qualified for student financial assistance as a student with a permanent disability.

Application process and supporting documentation

Once your student loan application has been assessed and you have been approved by PEI Student Loans as a student with a permanent disability you will contact your post-secondary educational institution and request to make an appointment with their accessibility services/disability coordinator.

Once approved, a cheque will be issued to you and your school to use for the requested services and equipment.  It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and return receipts to our office for the funds used.  Any unused funds are required to be paid back to our office.

Applications cannot be assessed until all medical documentation has been received.
