Appointments to the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission

The Standing Committee on Communities, Land and Environment is responsible for recommending to the Legislative Assembly individuals to be appointed to the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission, which administers and enforces the Human Rights Act, pursuant to Section 16 of the Human Rights Act, R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap.H-12.

The Legislative Assembly, on the recommendation of the Standing Committee on the Communities, Land and Environment, is pleased to appoint the following commissioners:

• Mr. John Rogers, reappointed to the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission for a term of three years, to expire on May 5, 2020; and designated the Chairperson. John Rogers was first appointed to Commission on April 18, 2008 and appointed Chair on July 9, 2015.

• Ms. Carmen de Pontbriand reappointed to the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission for a term of two years, to expire on May 5, 2019. Ms. Carmen de Pontbriand was first appointed to the Commission on May 2, 2014.

• Ms. Joanne Ings appointed to the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission for a term of two years, to expire on May 5, 2019.

• Ms. Lori St. Onge appointed to the Prince Edward Island Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission for a term of three years, to expire on May 5, 2020.
 
Following the adoption of this report, the composition of the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission will be as follows:

  • Mr. John Rogers, Chairperson (term expiring May 5, 2020)
  • Ms. Carmen de Pontbriand, Commissioner (term expiring May 5, 2019)
  • Ms. Joanne Ings, Commissioner (term expiring May 5, 2019)
  • Mr. George Lyle, Commissioner (term expiring July 9, 2018)
  • Ms. Lori St. Onge, Commissioner (term expiring May 5, 2020)
  • Mr. Maurice Rio, Commissioner (term expiring July 9, 2018)

The Standing Committee on Communities, Land and Environment would like to formally thank all individuals who expressed an interest as serving as a commissioner on the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Commission.
