Better service, access and safety for Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford’s public transit users
Investing in Infrastructure -
Investing in public infrastructure supports efficient, affordable and sustainable transit services that help Canadians and their families get to work, school and essential services on time and back home safely at the end of a long day. The governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island are making investments that will help create well-paying jobs and grow the middle class now while building a strong foundation for a sustainable economic future.
Sean Casey, Member of Parliament for Charlottetown, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Paula Biggar, Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy for Prince Edward Island, today announced $336,246 in joint funding for upgrades to the T3 Transit fleet and related infrastructure under the federal government’s Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.
The funding will allow T3 Transit to adapt ten recently purchased buses to include technology that enables users to plan and track their journeys in real-time. It will also go towards new bus shelters and improved routing and shelter signage.
This work will greatly improve the efficiency, safety and user experience for transit for riders in Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford, creating a more inclusive and sustainable transit system in Prince Edward Island for years to come.
“I’m very pleased to see how this funding program is being put to work for the benefit of Island transit users. Making sure people can get where they need to go safely, efficiently and comfortably is fundamental to economic growth and creating inclusive communities where everyone has access to opportunity.”

“This funding will allow us to modernize the T3 Transit fleet and enhance the user experience. We continue to work with our municipal partners and look at ways we can increase ridership and meet the needs of our current users. On behalf of City Council we thank the Federal and Provincial Governments for their financial support to make these necessary upgrades possible.”
Clifford Lee, Mayor of Charlottetown
“This investment in innovation will not only improve the experience for current transit riders, but it will also attract new riders, which will in turn help to sustain the transit system and reduce greenhouse gas emissions”
David Dunphy, Mayor of Stratford
"On behalf of the Town of Cornwall and Cornwall Council, we are very pleased with the investment in public transit undertaken by our funding partners in the Government of Canada and the Province of PEI. New public transit infrastructure ensures residents have access to safe, affordable and efficient transit services, now and in the future."
