Call for applications for community infrastructure

Investing in infrastructure

Communities, organizations and businesses can now apply for funding for public transit, green infrastructure, culture, recreation, and community development.

“Over the past four years, more than $447 million has been invested in infrastructure for Island communities, along with over $120 million in provincial roads and bridge improvements,” said Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar. “I encourage communities, not-for-profits, and businesses to put forward ideas that will continue to improve our environment, build our municipalities, and expand on our province’s cultural and recreational offerings.”

The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) will provide more than $366 million in federal funding over the next decade for infrastructure projects in Prince Edward Island. The plan supports investments in green infrastructure, community culture and recreation, rural and northern communities, and public transit.

The funding streams currently open for application will support:

  • cleaner air and water
  • reduced greenhouse gas emissions
  • climate change mitigation and adaptation
  • enhanced public parks, recreational facilities and other spaces that make communities great places to live.

The projects will be cost-shared with the provincial government, municipalities or other partners.

The Infrastructure Secretariat will be holding information sessions with eligible groups over the coming weeks to share information on the project funding.  Information sessions will take place from March 18-29 (see below).

Apply by April 26, 2019 at 4 p.m. for this intake of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. For more information visit Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).
