Change to senior management announced
Premier Dennis King today announced the appointment of Tanya Rowell as incoming Chief Executive Officer of the PEI Public Service Commission.
Ms. Rowell has held several senior roles within human resources since joining the provincial public service in 2001. For the past five years, she has served as Director of Human Resource Management and Labour Relations with the PEI Public Service Commission where she has led significant work on behalf of government.

Her leadership in human resources with provincial government will allow for a steadfast transition as we continue to create a strong public service. I look forward to working with her and our dedicated public service in supporting continued growth in our province and the changing needs of communities and Islanders.”

Ms. Rowell will assume her new role on October 24 when current CEO Andrew Thompson retires following a 33 year career with government, including the last six years as CEO of the PEI Public Service Commission.
“I wish Andrew well in his retirement and thank him for his decades of public service to Islanders, his leadership and the many contributions he has made over the years to strengthen and modernize the provincial public service.”
The Premier also confirmed the appointment of Brian Matheson as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land. Mr. Matheson had been acting in this role since June and has extensive experience in leading agricultural policy with the provincial government. He previously served as Director of Policy and Agricultural Resources with the department of Agriculture and Land.
