Changes at Elections PEI

Gary McLeod, has advised The Honourable Francis (Buck) Watts, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, that he is resigning as Chief Electoral Officer for Prince Edward Island, effective 1 June 2017.

Mr. McLeod has served as Chief Electoral Officer since January, 2013, for almost five years. The job was challenging and rewarding and he is ready to move on to new pursuits.

Speaker Watts thanked Mr. McLeod for his service to Prince Edward Islanders and wished him all the best in his future endeavours.

Marian Johnston, Clerk Assistant and Clerk of Committees for the Legislative Assembly, has accepted the designation as Chief Electoral Officer (Acting) from the Standing Committee on Legislative Management. A new permanent Chief Electoral Officer will be appointed by the Legislative Assembly in due course.
