Commission scolaire de langue française hires new Superintendent
The Commission scolaire de langue française (CSLF), PEI's French-language school board, recently hired Natascha Joncas as its Superintendent. Joncas took over on October 15, 2019.
Born and raised in Lourdes du Blanc-Sablon in Québec, Madame Joncas brings to the CSLF a vast experience in school management. She was previously Superintendent at Yukon's French-language school board and Québec's Eastern Shores School Board. Joncas has also held numerous positions in education management over many years, including secretary general and student services coordinator, as well as being a teacher and a school principal.
Joncas holds a Master's degree in education, an undergraduate degree in education, and a diploma in school management. She is a member of the bar in Québec, having obtained a postgraduate degree in common law and in transnational law, as well as a degree in civil law.
The Chair of the CSLF, Gilles Benoît, is elated with the hiring of the new Superintendent. "Natascha Joncas brings to the CSLF a wealth of pertinent experiences and knowledge for our school board and our community. Her vast knowledge of minority-language education, her managerial experience, her bilingualism, and her education and training are significant assets for the CSLF. Our Board looks forward to working with her and is confident the Acadian and Francophone community of PEI is also looking forward to working with her."
Joncas also looks forward to the challenge. "PEI's Acadian and Francophone community offers important challenges in French-language education as the pillar of its vitality. I am excited to collaborate with CSLF employees, parents and students, as well as community groups, notably the Fédération des parents, and the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning, towards a common goal, being the welfare and success of each of our students."
“We are very pleased to welcome Natascha to her new role. We look forward to working with her to build on the many excellent French language education opportunities in our province.”
- Education and Lifelong Learning Minister Brad Trivers
