Do you know an environmental champion?
If you know someone who goes above and beyond to protect or enhance the environment, you can nominate them for a Prince Edward Island Environmental Awards.
Nominations are now open until May 1 for this year’s awards at www.princeedwardisland.ca/environmentalawards or by phone 902-368-5028. There are three award categories: individual, organization, and school.
“Protecting the environment that we all share is a collective responsibility in which we all have a role to play,” Communities, Land and Environment Minister Richard Brown said. “Thanks to our small size, Prince Edward Island is mighty because our interconnectedness enables to work well together to achieve big things. The Prince Edward Island Environmental Awards provide well-deserved recognition for all the Islanders that we know are working hard to protect and enhance the environment.”
To be eligible for an award, the individual, school or organization must be instrumental in: identifying, reducing, solving or avoiding an environmental problem; demonstrating consistent responsible environmental management practices; and/or promoting public awareness, understanding and active concern for the enhancement and protection of the environment. In addition, the review committee will also consider the nominees’ long-term service and commitment; voluntary contributions; and innovative approach.
Award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee composed of members of the Environmental Advisory Council.
