Do you know an outstanding Island senior?

Nominations for the annual Senior Islanders of the Year awards are being accepted until August 9.

The annual awards recognize the significant contribution of Island seniors in community life including volunteerism, artistic achievement, fund raising, community participation, fitness and recreation, and other activities.

“Island seniors have helped shape our communities and the province that we know today,” said Ernie Hudson, Minister of Social Development and Housing. “This distinguished award serves as thanks and recognition for the valuable knowledge, skill and experience Island seniors contribute each and every day.”

To be eligible for the award, nominees must be:

  • a current resident of Prince Edward Island;
  • 65 years of age or older; and
  • willing to be nominated

To nominate someone, download the form at PEI Senior Islanders of the Year, email seniors@gov.pe.ca or call 1-866-770-0588.

Ann Sherman, Evelyn Jenkins, Fairley Yeo, Grace Blackette and Kaye Larkin were honoured with the award in 2018.
