Equipment upgrades at MacAusland’s Woolen Mills
With roots dating back to 1870, MacAusland’s Woolen Mills Ltd. is one of the longest-operating businesses on Prince Edward Island. Since 1932, they have been keeping people from all over Canada and the United States warm with their traditional blankets made from 100% virgin wool, their core business to this day.
Bobby Morrissey, Member of Parliament for Egmont, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism today announced government support for this company to replace aging equipment. MacAusland’s will purchase and install two modern textile weaving looms to increase productivity. ACOA, through its Business Development Program, approved a repayable contribution of up to $150,000 to the company for new equipment. The provincial government is providing $10,000 under the Capital Assistance Acquisition program to support the cost of the new equipment.
