PEI Burger Love returns for its 8th annual celebration of Island beef. For the campaign’s hungry fans, there are 85 different gourmet burgers to choose from, with one of those burgers to be crowned the ‘Most Loved Burger’ at the end of April.

This year sees the highest number of communities to feature a participating restaurant since the launch of the campaign. New areas include Tignish, Alberton, Mount Stewart and Cardigan. Tyne Valley and Montague can boast the most locations to date, and there are many burger options from Souris to Charlottetown to Summerside and communities in between.

“We truly are tip-to-tip this year,” said Melody Dover, President and Creative Director of Fresh Media, the agency which created and manages PEI Burger Love. “We love knowing that so many people across the Island now have the opportunity to enjoy a Burger Love burger and support local businesses in their own community.”

PEI Burger Love is a month-long celebration of 100% Island Beef, created by Fresh Media and presented in partnership with PEI Cattle Producers and the PEI Department of Agriculture & Forestry.

“Burger Love is an excellent way to promote the quality, taste and nutritional value of Prince Edward Island beef,” Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Robert Henderson said. “I want to wish everyone involved a highly successful campaign.”

This is also the second year for the Give Back Burger. Of the restaurants participating in 2018, one third have opted in to the initiative which gives $1 from each of the burgers to Food Security Grant Programs in partnership with the United Way of PEI.  Last year more than $60,000 was raised to support a variety of grant recipients with programs focused on increasing access to local and affordable food for Islanders.

The heroes of the campaign are Island Beef producers and the talents of local chefs. A sample of some of the unique ingredients featured on some of the Island Beef burgers include bacon apple cheese spread, paprika potato chips, chow mein noodles, Himalayan butter sauce;  one burger will feature marshmallows and Graham crackers.

“On behalf of all the PEI farm families who work hard every day to produce quality products, I invite Islanders to get out and enjoy some of this year’s tasty Burger Love creations,” said PEI Cattle Producers' Vice Chair Jeremy Stead. “Our farmers appreciate Islanders continued support of the PEI Burger Love Campaign, which focuses on 100% Island beef.”

The full list of PEI Burger Love creations will be unveiled on March 29th; the campaign ends April 30th. For all the beefy details on PEI Burger Love, and information on the contests and other promotions that are part of the campaign, visit www.peiburgerlove.ca .
