Free training available for municipal chief administrative officers
Chief Administrative Officers (CAO) for municipalities across Prince Edward Island now have access to a series of free training sessions to support them in their jobs.
The new Municipal CAO Education and Training Project is ideal for current and incoming CAOs who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in areas such as, roles and responsibilities of administration and council; financial management; and land use planning.
“There are 59 municipalities across PEI and they all have essential day-to-day administrative work that has to be done. Our goal with these training sessions is to ensure that all of our CAOs have access to the training they want and need to carry out their important work in supporting council and helping to meet the needs of the people in their respective municipality.”
- Fisheries and Communities Minister Jamie Fox
The training program is being funded through the federal/provincial Safe Restart Agreement and is being be managed by the Federation of PEI Municipalities.
“This new CAO training program is a valuable tool for Island municipalities and gives CAOs the opportunity to build upon their skills, while supporting the important work that they do every day,” said President of the Federation of PEI Municipalities Bruce MacDougall.
The Federation of PEI Municipalities has provided information about the training and how to register directly to municipal offices.
