Grant funding doubled for community based seniors programs

Funding to the Seniors Secretariat for community-based seniors programs will double in 2021-22.

Island community groups representing or supporting seniors can access new or additional funds that promote healthy aging and active living, aging in place, social inclusion and age-friendly communities.

“In 2020 the Secretariat had a record number of applications for funding from community organizations, despite the pandemic. This tells us that Islanders are continuing to show up for one another and their communities and we want to support them in doing so.”

- Social Development and Housing Minister Brad Trivers

Groups eligible for funding include non-profit organizations, community-based coalitions, networks, municipal governments, and other organizations that support indigenous peoples in Prince Edward Island.

A call for funding applications will be issued on April 12, 2021 and eligible groups can apply then at PEI Seniors’ Secretariat Grant.
