Hundreds of job opportunities await on WorkPEI

For anyone planning a move to Prince Edward Island, or current residents looking for work, the first stop in finding a job should be WorkPEI.ca.

There are currently more than 660 job postings on the site that represent 1,500-plus actual job openings.

Although summertime brings plenty of entry-level openings in the hospitality sector, there are still many opportunities for people further along in their careers. - Scot MacDonald, WorkPEI Manager

“Our latest report for the month of July indicates the sector with the greatest demand for workers is sales and services, but for July we also saw higher demand in manufacturing, agriculture and the trades and transport sectors,” MacDonald says. “We list numerous jobs with attractive compensation levels across all sectors which should be of interest to anyone considering moving to PEI.”

Of the listings in July 2018, three quarters were offering full-time work and more than half were for permanent positions.

Job seekers can also create an online resume on WorkPEI to be seen by more than 1,000 Prince Edward Island member employers. WorkPEI currently has over 10,000 member job seekers with more than 6,000 Island residents, 714 from other parts of Canada and 3,700 international applicants. Almost 200 members indicate they are PEI expats now living away but who are interested in returning to PEI.

“WorkPEI is not just for unemployed people, but also for those who may feel they're under-employed or for anyone seeking a new opportunity,” MacDonald said.

“By creating an account and publishing an online resume, anyone can be contacted by an employer about a new opportunity if they show up in search results.”
