Islanders invited to pre-budget consultations

Pre-budget consultations are beginning across Prince Edward Island.

Finance Minister Allen Roach is holding consultations on the 2017-18 budget online and during four public meetings beginning later this month. The consultations provide individuals, organizations and businesses an opportunity to provide their ideas and feedback on the upcoming provincial budget.

“We continue to work to achieve a balanced budget in the upcoming fiscal year,” said Minister Roach. “We need input on what programs and services are important to Islanders, where savings can be found and how we can grow our economy. We also want to hear from Islanders about their views on carbon pricing.”

Feedback can be made online [link no longer available] until February 19. In addition, dates and locations of the public meetings are as follows:

  • Thursday, January 26, Montague (storm date January 27);
  • Thursday, February 2, Charlottetown (storm date February 3);
  • Thursday, February 9, Summerside (storm date February 10). French translation will be provided; and
  • Thursday, February 16, Tignish (storm date February 17)

Each session runs from 2 to 4 p.m. To pre-register, call (902) 314-3407.
