Order of PEI nominations being reviewed
Gerard Greenan, Chair of the Order of PEI Advisory Council, announced today that nominations for the Order of Prince Edward Island are currently being reviewed by the Council. The Council has received in excess of 50 nominations and are very impressed with the calibre of those received.
“The Order of Prince Edward Island was established in 1996 to recognize the Island’s most outstanding citizens. Since its inception, 68 Islanders have been awarded the medal and inducted into the Order. This is a very special award for very deserving Islanders and the Council has a difficult task this year due to the quality of nominations received” says Mr. Greenan.
The Council will continue to narrow down the nominations to ensure it recognizes three outstanding individuals in the fall of 2017 at a special ceremony hosted by the Lieutenant-Governor of Prince Edward Island and Chancellor of the Order at Government House. This event is attended by the Premier, members of the Advisory Council, family and friends of the honourees. The object of the Order is to recognize individual excellence, achievement and outstanding contributions to the social, cultural or economic well-being of Prince Edward Island and its residents.
