Premier's statement on the appointment of Antoinette Perry as Lieutenant Governor designate
The following is a statement from Premier Wade MacLauchlan on the appointment of Antoinette Perry as Lieutenant Governor designate.
I offer my congratulations to Antoinette Perry on being named as Prince Edward Island’s 42nd Lieutenant Governor.
She will serve our province with grace and vigour as vice-regal representative. An active member in many aspects of Island community life, Ms. Perry has volunteered many hours in support of our province, particularly in the cultural, Acadian, and education communities.
Many Islanders will know Antoinette Perry through her passion for music as the church organist in Tignish, and through her 32-year career as an educator at Tignish Elementary School. I join all Islanders in welcoming her to this newest role and am confident she will serve with the same sense of dedication and enthusiasm she has shown throughout her professional and community efforts.
I thank Their Honours the Honourable H. Frank Lewis and Mrs. Dorothy Lewis for their service to Prince Edward Island. Islanders owe a huge vote of appreciation to Their Honours for their good-natured dignity, visibility, and active engagement with our Island-wide community over more than six years in the vice-regal role.
