2020-2021 Online Registration for Apprenticeship In-school Training
The 2020-2021 Apprenticeship training schedule is being reviewed based on the impact of COVID-19.
We are unable at this time to confirm when in-class training may start and fall courses may have to be delivered remotely or on-line.
Please check back here for future updates.
Apprentices that had enrolled in classes that were cancelled in April, May and June 2020
These classes will be scheduled as soon as possible in the 2020-2021 training calendar.
Block Release and Certification Exams - Update July 31, 2020
The examination protocol has been approved by the office of the Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO).
For those clients who were scheduled to write an exam on April 20, 2020, or for those who were in their final level of training in Spring 2020 and have been approved to write a certification exam you will be contacted by apprenticeship to schedule your exam.
Am I eligible to attend training with cost assistance?
In order to attend block release training and have Skills PEI pay for your training you must:
- be a registered apprentice with the PEI Apprenticeship Section, Province of Prince Edward Island;
- be eligible for Employment Insurance; and
- be unemployed at the beginning of training.
How long will it take to complete the registration?
It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. You must complete the form in one sitting because the form cannot be saved.
Apprentices and employers should discuss the schedule before the apprentice registers for training.
The following class schedule for apprenticeship (block-release) training may be adjusted depending on response. If registration is below the minimum number, a class may be cancelled or, where possible, combined with another class. You will be notified if the schedule changes after you have registered.
Please note: for maximum benefit from in-school apprenticeship training, the suggested number of hours in your log book should be:
- Block 1: 1620 hrs
- Block 2: 3240 hrs
- Block 3: 4860 hrs
- Block 4: 6480 hrs
