2025 Children's Summer Food Program

The Children’s Summer Food Program delivers five nutritious frozen meals each week to school-aged children of families facing food insecurity.  Running throughout July and August, the program is dedicated to supporting households with demonstrated financial need, ensuring children have access to healthy meals all summer long. 

Who is eligible for the Children’s Summer Food Program?

Children must be school-aged (Kindergarten to Grade 12, as of September 2025), and able to consume solid food.

This program is primarily intended to support PEI families currently receiving financial support through the Social Assistance or Assured Income programs. However, families not enrolled in these programs, but are experiencing financial hardship, may complete a registration form. Program staff will review all applications and consider eligibility based on program capacity and demonstrated need. 

How do I apply?

Registration will open on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and remain open throughout the duration of the program. Please fill out the form linked at the bottom of this webpage.

Once you register for the Children’s Summer Food Program, you do not need to re-register each week. After you register your child(ren) you do not need to order meals. Meals are based on a set menu and specific ordering is not available.

What information is required?

• Name of parent or guardian who is applying
• Contact information for parent or guardian (phone number and email)
• Delivery address and special delivery instructions
• Number of school aged children in the home requiring meals
• Grade level of each child (as of September 2025)
• Personal Health Number (PHN) of each child
• Allergies or food sensitivities for each child
• Financial information (client of Social Programs or household income amount)

How is the service provided?

Meals are sourced from local restaurants or catering companies and delivered to the address provided on the registration form. Each registered school-aged child will be provided with five (5) frozen, free meals per week.

Deliveries will occur every Wednesday between July 2 – August 27, 2025. Meal orders are finalized on Tuesdays for delivery the following week.

Please note we will only be offering delivery (no pick-up option). Families are required to have someone at the address provided between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to accept the delivery. Meals cannot be left in coolers to ensure food safety.

Please note that drivers will not deliver food if they feel unsafe (e.g. hazards in the yard, unsecured animals on premises, etc.).
