Apply for a Plumbing Contractor's Licence

Any company conducting plumbing services in Prince Edward Island requires a valid PEI Plumbing Contractor's Licence. In addition, the owner or at least one employee of the company must hold a valid journeyman’s certificate in plumbing or a work permit issued in accordance with the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualification Act.

A plumbing contractor's licence is valid for a maximum one-year period. All licences expire March 31st. (A licence issued in January must be renewed within three months as it will expire March 31st.)

In addition to a contractor licence,  a separate plumbing permit must be issued for each plumbing project.

Plumbing services in PEI are regulated under the authority of the Environmental Protection Act. For detailed information, refer to A Code for Plumbing Services Regulations
