Apply to Enter PEI as a Student

During COVID-19, students may apply to come to Prince Edward Island for studies at an eligible accredited school, university or college.

If you plan to travel to PEI as a student from an international location, you must contact the Canada Border Services Agency before applying. It is your responsibility to learn about any restrictions to enter Canada.

If you are an international or domestic student and live outside of the province, you need pre-travel approval before you begin your travel to Prince Edward Island. When you arrive, you (and anyone with you) must self-isolate.

Anytime a student leaves the province they must re-apply to return to PEI and self-isolate. You are advised to check with your school before planning any travel out of the province.

You must attach ALL required documents for your application to be reviewed. If you are missing information or need help, contact your school.

If you live in Canada you must complete a pre-travel approval application and include the following documentation:

  • Confirmation of your enrollment from PEI academic institution. The confirmation must indicate that you are required to be in PEI for classes for the upcoming semester.

  • Contact information of a PEI self-isolation support person, address and phone number.
  • If you have confirmed your air travel, include flight itinerary and details to show where your travel begins.

Students travelling from outside of Canada

If you are travelling from outside of Canada, you must complete a pre-travel approval application including the following documentation.

  • Confirmation of your enrollment from PEI academic institution. The confirmation must indicate that you are required to be in PEI for classes for the upcoming semester.
  • Proof of your accommodation from the academic institution confirming your location for the required self-isolation period.

NOTE: Parents or guardians may choose to travel with you to PEI from outside of Canada for drop-off; however, they must complete their own pre-travel approval application and self-isolation plan and adhere to all public health measures.
